Henna cookies...

Cookies don't need to be made or eaten on special occasions but these here festive cookies were made for a south asian styled henna party, which is traditionally called a Mendhi or Dholki. These sugar cookies are perfect to be given away as favours to all the guests and with that being said a lot of them needed to be made!

Now I normally don't make a large batch of cookies (in this case) but it just happened to be the wedding festivities of a very dear friend from university. Since I love experimenting with nearly everything I decided to do individual henna patterns on each cookie making each one unique.

This was also my first time making sugar cookies but I am quite happy with how the results turned out :) The main goal was to make them fun and colourful just like these events usually are, so I opted to use very vibrant and contrasting colours.

Then after these babies cooled, I hand piped each henna design then individually wrapped them up and tied with cute little curly ribbons. There were a total of about 80 cookies, and I know that doesn't sound like a lot but if you know sugar cookies you know the process of royal icing. After that hand piping each cookie and then finally wrapping them up had my work cut out for me! Although I have to say the hard work definitely paid off and for what it matter the cookies were a big hit! It was a long but amazing day filled with dancing, singing, and a lot of laughter. The venue was absolutely stunning along with the decoration and I'd like to think the cookies sealed the deal hahaha. So until next time lots of love!
