Sephora Product Review -- Skincare Edition

Guess who’s back… Back again xD
So yeah it has been a long time coming this post but lets get real sometimes you’re just way to lazy to even bother with things am I right or am I right? So about a month or two ago (most likely two months ago >_<) I went into Sephora and purchased quite a bit of new products to try out, and of course they all happened to be skincare. In my defence good skin brings good fortune… how you ask? well its simple! when your skin looks flawless you need less make up to cover up therefore your hard earned money stays put *cough cough* hahaha xD. Anyways… let us dive right into this!

So starting with the top left of this picture we see “Where is Pore?” I purchased the Caolion — Premium Hot & Cool Pore Pack Duo. So as the name suggests there is a hot pack and a cold pack, both packs are designed to target pore related issues. The hot pack has small grains that exfoliate your skin and the most amazing part — it actually heats up — its a small amount of warmth that literally steams open your pores as you buff away dead unwanted skin cells. The product claims to “extract excess sebum and residual makeup that clogs pores”, in my experience, the product works fairly well but it isn’t something that makes you go WOW once you wash it off. So I wasn’t too impressed.
However, the cooling pack is a whole different story! Now this pack I totally love. Unlike the hot pack the cooling pack doesn’t have any exfoliation properties and works to tighten enlarged pores… need I say more? Since this product contains menthol it feels really cool on your skin even after you wash the mask off you are left with a refreshing feeling. I also, love how it noticeably made a difference for me and didn’t leave me with a tight feeling once i washed off the mask. I would definitely repurchase the cooling pack on its own (and i believe its sold separately as well brownie points!).

Moving on, lets turn our attention to the product just underneath, the Shu Uemura — Blanc: Chroma Cleansing Oil. Now I am a big fan of the Korean 10 step skincare routine, and i have been following it religiously for about a year or two *insert contemplating emoji* (I will probably be doing a separate post about my new skincare routine shortly) so a good cleansing oil is a staple. I was first introduced to Shu Uemura through my elder sis who purchased their Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil. After I used it the first time it was an honest love at first try type of moment. So as excited as ever I rushed into my local Sephora and headed towards the Shu Uemura counter to grab the same one, however, they just had so many other options to choose from! I ended up choosing the Shu Uemura — Blanc: Chroma Cleansing Oil solely because it has brightening properties to clear up pigmentation… I’m a sucker for anything that does so. And for added bonuses it claimed to give you visibly transparent skin who doesn’t love skin that looks radiant and glowing from deep within! So before I get into my experience with the product let me just give a brief overview of how it works. The product initially goes on as a light weight oil but once you add water to it, it becomes a milky substance that leaves your skin feeling amazingly hydrated and soft without a residue. I found this product to be absolutely wonderful at the end of a long day it worked so well to breakdown my makeup, sunscreen, excess oils, and pollutants from the day. As for the brightening property I have noticed a reduction in dark spots and scars so I say it works for me. The transparency is also there but to be fair my skin has bad days and good days so on the good days i can really say this product does give me that mochi type skin look.

Although the picture doesn't do much justice here is an attempt at showing you how milky this get when water is added of course the "milk" wouldn't stay put *shakes fist*

Next over is the Laneige — Hydration Trial Kit (center of the shot), I remember when Sephora first launched/ or started carrying their K-beauty products I was super ecstatic. I went into purchase their BB cushion but came out with skincare as perusal hahaha ( -.- ). *confession I may or may not have gone back for the cushion ^_^* So the travel kits are absolutely amazing since it lets you try out multiple products and see how they work for you, this kit contains (all in travel size): the  Multi Cleanser, Power Essential Skin Toner, Balancing Emulsion for Normal to Dry Skin, Water Bank Serum, Water Bank Moisture Cream, and the Water Sleeping Mask. Let’s look at these products one at a time:

Multi Cleanser -- Laneige

The Multi Cleanser:
The cleanser contains micro-cellular beads and papaya which is meant to brighten your skin and get rid of impurities. That being said I was a little iffy about this product, as I’m not really a fan of things with exfoliating beads. But I was surprised to find that the exfoliation was not that bad, if anything I would say it is comparable to the powder type exfoliants — very gentle on the skin. Another thing i loved about this product was how easily it lathered up. Even though all that being said and done, I just found that this product wasn’t for me as a daily use product. And I only reached for this product when I wanted a mild exfoliation on days I chose not to wear anything but sunscreen. It does get the dirt and grim off at the end of the day but I guess my pet peeve would be the feeling of residual micro-beads that would make toning and moisturizing a tad bit annoying. But that could just be me!

The Power Essential Skin Toner:
This toner was amazing and I was kind of sad but not really when it ran out. Although it had amazing hydrating properties, the fact that there was alcohol in this product irked me. I found that when i used this toner I was reaching for it even while knowing it had alcohol in it (which dries out my skin) it also had its amazing hydration and vitamin packed goodness so I thought take the good leave the bad? I did use the entire sample but it was honestly a love hate relation. I noted that when I put it on right after washing my face my skin felt like all goodness was instilled but if I didn’t apply moisturizer on right away my face would feel a little tight…

Balancing Emulsion -- Laneige

The Balancing Emulsion:
Now this product was really hydrating, and I don’t know if its just me, but before I got into the Korean 10 step skincare routine I had like never heard of emulsion moisturizers. It’s like water jam-packed with vitamins and minerals and tiny oil droplets all suspended in a light weight milky mixture. It easily absorbs into the skin and provides a light barrier while replenishing your skin oil levels. None the less it is a good product for days when your skin is behaving well.

Water Bank Serum -- Laneige

The Water Bank Serum:
I really love the texture of this product! It’s like a water gel that glides on to the skin effortlessly and is absorbed into the skin just as easily. Might I add I don’t use this product on the regular, but when I do use it my skin instantly reacts. I opt to use this serum on days when my skin is just being a dull bore of a mess and feel like it provides me with an instant plump and hydrated look. Especially when I find my skin to be tired from sleep deprivation of even just horrible eating habits, this gives me the fresh boost I need.

*Excuse the fluff* Water Bank Moisture Cream -- Laneige

The Water Bank Moisture Cream:
Now this product is the consistency I love — and being in Canada — sometimes the winter cold air likes to drag out out well into our “summers” so the thickness of this product works really well with the cold dry air. Besides that I love to use this even when it gets hot out, it works really well throughout the day and keeps a barrier of moisture for your skin to drink up. And with me I love layering products both in the morning and at night to constantly provide my skin with goodness. The fact that this product contains scalene oil is also an added bonus since it aims to strengthens your skins natural barrier. So on days when my skin feels a little dry I add this in and love how smooth it makes my face look and feel.

Water Sleeping Mask -- Laneige
Close up of consistency

The Water Sleeping Mask:
When I first heard of this product I heard that one is sold every few seconds in Korea, so naturally I became skeptical thinking here’s another marketing poly *roles eyes* but since it came with my travel kit I thought what the hey let’s give it a try. This over night mask is a gorgeous pale blue colour and is a very light weight gel that instantly turns to water during application. The scent was of course amazing with orange flower and rose extracts being there. Initially I expected this mask to be thick and heavy like most masks are and not to mention that it was a night mask so I was really thinking it would be like a thick paste. Lo and behold this light wight gel what it lacked in thickness made up for in performance. But it wasn’t like… I woke up and OMG my skin looks amazing!!! It was more like *wakes up, looks into mirror, sees a film over her face, thinks my skin looks like nothing happened to it, what a bust, washes face, looks into the mirror, does a double take, DAYUMMMNNNNN* okay so maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration it was more like a niceeeee! It turns our you have to wash this product off in the morning to see its results, and for me I felt it gave my dull tired skin a boost of radiance and moisture not to mention how soft and baby like it made my cheeks feel!

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream

So that’s it for the Travel Kit now lets move on to the Dr. Jart+ — Ceramidin Cream. This was a total impulse buy, but thank god i gave into my impulse at that moment because this is a product I REALLY LOVE!! This cream moisturizer is one I absolutely adore and even though it was a little pricey I say it was a justified splurge. My skin tends to have days where it likes to be dull and not so happy looking and although it’s not necessarily excessively dry my forehead and nose sometimes like to do their own thing. So when that happens this guy comes soon in handy because it gives you an instant on application revived feel, with smoother and softer looking skin. And it comes in such a cute packaging it really is hard not to lean towards getting! This cream is light weight but thicker in consistency than most creams I’ve used in the past, it has a nude colour, absorbs very quickly, and gives you all day and all night intensive moisture. Dr. Jart+ you’re doing it right!

Now there are three other Skincare products in the picture: Dr. Jart+ — Water Replenishment Sheet Mask, An SK-II — Sheet Mask, and  the Dr. Dennis Gross — Alpha Beta Peel. Me being as promiscuous as I am when it comes to skin care related goodies I have yet to test these three products out but if you are looking forward to a review on those products let me know! :)

So yeah I think I’ve made a long enough post today LOL and if you made it this far please leave a comment below to let me know, and also What’s your vice? Mine well… Skincare hahaha :)

Lots of Love
xx
